The Great Irony of Dieting and Weight Loss

Forget “food” restriction. To lose weight we need to FEED our bodies, NOT starve them!

I always thought I could tell if someone was obese just by looking at them.

YOU CAN’T!

Obesity is so insidious that millions of people are suffering from obesity and its myriad health effects … and they don’t even know it.

Physical Activity is NOT an Effective Weight-Loss Solution

When I turned 55, I was not only obese, I was dangerously obese, despite working out six days a week.

After seeing this picture, I vowed to shed my excess belly fat. So what did I do? I went on a diet, of course.

One month later, my waist hadn’t budged an inch, and for the first time in my life, I began to understand the challenges of weight loss.

As an ardent researcher, I was determined to find the real cause of overweight and obesity (they’re not the same thing), and the more I researched, the more I realized that my obesity had nothing to do with eating too much food.

Once I realized the true cause of my obesity, I was able to shed my excess fat without ever having to go on some idiotic diet.

Why don’t the “typical” weight loss solutions work?

Because they’re not meant to work!

If any of the so-called weight-loss solutions peddled by the big industries actually solved the root cause of obesity, it would spell the end to the river of money they make on treating the symptoms.

If you doubt that, consider this: In 2021, we spent $254 billion on weight loss products and services (this was before the ultimate cash-kahuna of GLP-1 drugs like Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.), and obesity rose yet again, just like it has every single year since population-wide obesity began in the mid-70s.

The Big Industries have “conditioned” us to think we have to buy our solution for weight loss and health.

The real solution to obesity – according to the weight-loss industry – is all about dieting, counting calories and food restriction, and they happen to have accountability programs and special meals that will melt your fat away.

FOOD RESTRICTION!!!! Oh, no, no, big food doesn’t like that. They say those weight-loss guys are crazy. The real cause of obesity is that we’re too sedentary, and they’ve funded plenty of studies to “prove” it.

According to the big-food-sponsored studies, all we have to do is move a little more, and we can eat anything we want… and they happen to sell what we want!

Naturally, the pharmaceutical companies want in on the greatest cash cow in history. They say nonsense to both industries because they’ve got the science that proves obesity’s a disease, and the only way to fight a disease is with supplements and drugs, and if you follow these guys long enough you’ll faint from going around in circles so many times.

The true cause of our modern obesity epidemic.

As it turns out, the actual cause of our modern obesity epidemic isn’t all that mysterious; in fact, I can sum it up in just one word – malnutrition.

Our modern diet of high-calorie, low-fibre, nutrient-void, ultra-processed food is the singular cause of our obesity problem because it’s the only thing that accounts for the absurd paradox of being overfed and undernourished.

Obesity had a definite beginning.

Ever since the early 50s, we’ve been steadily transitioning from eating real home-cooked food to eating fast food, packaged food and ready-to-eat frozen foods, and the big food companies quickly realized that whatever money they could make selling “real” food paled in comparison to what they could make marketing and selling engineered food; which meant stripping out the natural fibre, vitamins, minerals and nutrients and replacing it with fat, sugar, salt, and flavour enhancers, all in the name of low cost, high profit and maximum consumption.

And it worked!

It was all so tasty and convenient we couldn’t get enough.

1975 marked the year in which we began eating more of these chemical concoctions than we could overcome, and I use the word overcome deliberately because we are not biologically equipped to eat this stuff.

Most people now get over 60% of their total calories from UPF

We’ve been conditioned to think that our so-called “food” is perfectly normal. We’ve been led to believe that as a society, we’re getting fatter and sicker because we lack willpower, or it’s because we’re too sedentary, or it’s our genetics, or our biology, psychology, sociology, endocrinology, or anything else these industries can cook up to take the focus off the empty-calorie garbage they’re selling.

The fact is, all their conditioning is working to perfection because we keep right on eating the very stuff that’s causing almost all of our modern diseases.

How to lose excess dangerous fat and maximize your health.

The cure to obesity is surprisingly easy; we need to feed our bodies, not starve them.

There’s something called the protein-leverage hypothesis, which states that we will be driven to keep eating until our protein needs are met.

However, if what we’re eating has been stripped of protein, then those needs cannot be met, and consequently, we’ll be driven by the forces of survival to continue eating.

But since we’re eating high-calorie, nutrient-void “food,” we’re getting lots of calories and getting fatter, but at the cellular level, where it really matters, we’re virtually starving … that’s called malnutrition.

Short of actual poison, it’s hard to imagine a worse diet than a predominantly UPF diet.

Food, by definition, is any nutritious substance that maintains life and supports growth.

Ultra-processed food doesn’t qualify. It doesn’t meet the basic definition of food.

Every cell in your body, every cell in your brain, is made from what you eat.

YOU are made from what you eat … and if you’re NOT eating food, what exactly are you building your body and brain with?

Do not confuse tolerance of UPF with your body’s acceptance of UPF.

Our bodies have an incredible ability to adapt a tolerance for toxins, but that doesn’t make them any less harmful.

The bottom line is this: what we eat is the foundation upon which our health is built … period!

Poisoning ourselves is one thing, but what are we doing to our kids?

There used to be a disease called Adult-Onset Diabetes, but it is now so common in children that it had to be renamed Type 2 Diabetes.

Never before have children been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. Today, up to 10% of our kids have fatty liver disease, and 25% of young adults are prediabetic. This is madness!

The food companies could care less about your health or the health of your family.

Whenever there’s any proposed legislation to combat obesity, or to restrict advertising to children, the big food companies immediately marshal their army of lawyers and lobbyists; they summon the media – which they carry around in the back pocket – and together, they all scream a chorus of NANNY STATE!

The big food companies argue that legislating against their products and marketing tactics contravenes freedom of choice and individual liberty.

So, according to that argument, when a 5-year-old child is goaded into collecting all ten toys, when that child develops a sugar addiction and fatty liver disease and is facing a lifetime of obesity, we can take comfort that our first priority is freedom of choice.

We can say to that child, “Gee, sure, sorry about that, but unfortunately, you made some bad decisions!”

The big food companies insist that what we eat is a personal choice.

They’re absolutely right that it should be a personal choice, but they don’t want that choice to be based on critical thinking. They want us to blindly choose to eat the garbage they’re selling.

However, if we want to solve our health and obesity issues, blaming big food isn’t the answer.

As soon as we say they’re responsible for our health, we’ve rendered ourselves powerless because we’re saying that change must begin with them. That’s a mistake—a huge mistake—and that’s the mistake we’ve been making all along.

We need to start taking things personally.

Obesity isn’t some great mystery, nor is the cure. If you have any doubts, refer back to the chart above, which shows obesity’s definitive beginning.

The most important people on this planet are you and your family. You can influence both to a life of healthy eating … regardless of what the big food companies do.

That’s your power!

To overcome obesity and restore our health, we need to break our dependence on so-called convenience food by reminding ourselves that ultimately, it’s not convenient, nor is it food … and it’s anything but inexpensive because when we factor in the cost to our health, there’s not a person on this planet that can afford it.

Your health is your only tether to life on this planet … so that should make it your most valuable possession.

To lose fat and maximize our health, we must feed our bodies, not starve them.

Consider how you fuel your car.

Your car requires a specific octane rating to operate. The lowest-grade fuel has an octane of 87. Imagine if you fuel your car with an octane rating of 70. How poorly would it perform … if at all?

So why would we ever put low-grade, nutrient-void fuel into our most valuable possession?

The fuel we put in our bodies is either the cause or the cure to our modern obesity epidemic because every cell in your body and brain is made from what you eat.

That means what you eat today will be your health tomorrow.

OBESITY … it’s NOT what YOU THINK it is!
