You Can’t Win a War If You Don’t Know Your Enemy

If your DESIRE to master your “ideal” weight is greater than your willingness to be overweight or possibly unhealthy, then the only other thing you’ll need to win this weight loss war … is the “know-how.”

Make no mistake, successful weight-loss is an all-out war, and to win this war you must know your enemy, because the better you know your opponent, the greater your chances of victory.

As I’ve said before, I think permanent weight loss can be one of the most difficult things we can aspire to do … IF we don’t thoroughly understand the myriad of evolutionary and biological enemies that conspire to defeat our weight-loss attempts.

So, when it comes to weight loss, exactly who are our opponents?

Well, our hardwired, eons old survivalist programming, which assiduously guards against fat-loss, is certainly one.

Food-industry chemists that cleverly combine fat, sugar and salt to create food addictions is another.

Many of our habits and behaviors are a definite third …

and a whole host of very powerful, non-conscious hormones and other psychological barriers would be a fourth.

These are all very formidable opponents indeed, but countless people have overcome these obstacles to achieve permanent health and weight goals and so can you.

From my experience … and general observation … one of the greatest challenges to people who are trying to master control of their weight is contending with the endless amount of misinformation, contradictions and utter confusion on how to achieve a relatively straightforward result.

The fact that Americans alone spend more than $60 billion a year on weight loss products that sport a near 100 percent failure rate is ample proof that we’re either ignoring basic science or we’re fooling ourselves into believing there’s a quick fix or a magic potion.

Well … there isn’t.

The key to long-term weight loss, and total health begins with understanding our opponents because that’s the first and most critical step toward developing total confidence because here’s the thing, without total confidence in what you’re trying to achieve your chances of long-term success are just about zero.

When most people decide they want to lose weight, they put all of their effort and focus on the food they eat or on an exercise regime or some wacked out diet, and if that’s the extent of your preparation and armor going into such a formidable battle then you’ll lose.

When it comes to permanent weight loss and a plan for maximum health, you need total confidence. You need to know exactly how to recognize and then overcome the myriad of hidden forces that will conspire against you. Don’t underestimate these forces just because you can’t necessarily see them.

When it comes to success in losing weight and creating a healthy lifestyle in our modern world, we have to get our all-powerful mind on the right side. The foods we eat or the particular exercise program we follow are secondary factors … don’t get me wrong, they’re critically important, but if we don’t get our head and our thinking in order first, whatever else we do will never stand the test of time.

In order to develop the right mindset you have to know exactly what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and when you can expect to see results. In short you need to master weight loss.
